Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Slicemap. You accept them with a separate checkbox when you sign up. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Who runs the service and what it is

Slicemap is run by Dmitrii Sergeevich Bugaev, a private individual in Volgograd, Russia, email d.s.bugaev@gmail.com (the operator, “we” in these terms).

Slicemap is the website slicemap.dev, the app at app.slicemap.dev and the package for connecting a coding agent that you install yourself. It helps you plan a product with a user story map.

This is a free beta. It is separate from the Russian version at slicemap.ru and has its own database.

How the agreement is made

The agreement is made when you tick the box “I accept the terms of use” at sign-up. You must be 18 or older to use Slicemap.

With a separate box you consent to the processing of your personal data. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Free beta, no guarantees

Slicemap is free and in beta. It is provided “as is”: we do not promise that it will work without interruptions, that no data will ever be lost or that it will suit your purposes. Expect downtime and changes, and some features may be removed.

We may end the beta. If we do, we will email you at least 30 days in advance, so that you have time to export your maps to JSON.

Keep your own copy of anything important: any map can be exported to a JSON file at any time.

Your account

To sign up you need a working email address. You are responsible for what is done under your account, for your password and for the tokens you create for your coding agent. If you think a token has leaked, revoke it on the API Keys page.

One account is for one person. To work together, invite people to a workspace instead of sharing your login.

You can stop using Slicemap at any time. To delete your account with all its content, email d.s.bugaev@gmail.com from the address you signed up with; deletion takes up to 30 days. When your workspace is deleted, the work of its other members goes with it, so warn them first.

Your content

What you put into Slicemap stays yours. You allow the operator to store and process it, to show it to you and to the people you share it with, and to back it up, only as far as needed to run the service. The operator gets no other rights to your content.

Other people’s data in your maps

Do not put other people’s personal data into your maps unless you need to: roles and made-up personas are enough to plan a product.

If you do, you are the controller of that data and the operator processes it on your behalf: stores it, shows it to you and to the people you gave access to, makes backups, keeps it confidential, protects it as the Privacy Policy describes and tells you about any unauthorised access to it. You are responsible for having the right to put that data there.

Public links and invitations

You can share a map with a public link: anyone who has the address can see it. Names and email addresses of members are not shown on that page. You can revoke the link at any time, and the address stops working.

When you invite someone to a workspace, you give them access to its content according to their role, and they see the names and email addresses of its members.

Coding agent

A coding agent connects to Slicemap with your personal token and reads and changes maps on your behalf. It sends what it receives wherever you have set it up to send it: that is your choice and your agreement with the agent’s provider. The operator is not responsible for that transfer.

What is not allowed

You may not use Slicemap for:

  • storing or sharing content that is illegal under EU law, the law of an EU member state or the law of your country;
  • infringing other people’s intellectual property rights;
  • spreading malicious code;
  • spam or phishing;
  • processing other people’s personal data without a legal basis;
  • material that sexualises minors;
  • trying to break into or overload the service, get around its access rules or guess passwords and tokens;
  • pretending to be someone else.

How we moderate content

This section describes our content moderation: how we deal with content that is illegal or breaks these terms.

We do not review maps in advance and use no automated moderation tools. We act on notices (see Reporting illegal content), on orders from authorities and when we notice a clear breach while running the service. Every decision is made by a person, the operator.

Depending on the case, we may:

  • remove or disable access to specific content;
  • turn off a public link;
  • suspend or close an account.

When deciding, we take into account the rights and legitimate interests of everyone involved, including freedom of expression. If we learn of a possible crime that threatens someone’s life or safety, we report it to the authorities.

Reporting illegal content

Anyone can tell us about content in Slicemap that they believe is illegal. Email d.s.bugaev@gmail.com with the subject “Illegal content notice” and include:

  • why you think the content is illegal;
  • the exact link to it: the address of the public link and where on the map the content is;
  • your name and email address (not needed if the notice is about child sexual abuse);
  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the notice is accurate and complete.

We confirm that we received your notice and review it without undue delay. A person reviews it, not a program. We then tell you our decision and how to challenge it.

When we restrict your content or account

If you break the law or these terms, we may restrict your content or your account. Where possible, we warn you first and give you time to fix the problem.

When we restrict something, we email you a statement of reasons. It says:

  • what we restricted and for how long;
  • the facts we relied on, and whether we acted on a notice;
  • the ground: which law the content breaks or which part of these terms;
  • how to challenge the decision: reply to the email and the operator will review it again, or go to court.

We do not send a statement of reasons when an authority asks us not to, or when the content is deceptive commercial spam sent in bulk.

Paid plans

The beta is free and there are no paid plans. If we introduce them, we will announce them at least 30 days in advance. You are never charged without an explicit purchase.

Liability

Because Slicemap is free, the operator is not liable for lost profits, lost data or damage caused by downtime or errors in the service. The operator’s liability is limited to what Russian law expressly provides.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or your rights as a consumer.

You are responsible for the content you add and for what is done under your account.

Changes to these terms

The operator may change these terms. The new version is published on this page with a new date. If the changes are meaningful, the app asks you to accept the documents again the next time you sign in.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Russian Federation. If you are a consumer living in the EU or the UK, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country and can go to its courts.

Before going to court, write to the operator at d.s.bugaev@gmail.com: we answer within 30 days.
